Candle Chronicles: A Comedy of Errors & Lessons Learned

🕯️ When the Universe Says "Not Today"

1/26/20252 min read

Some days are just oops days, and today was definitely one of them.

It started bright and early with me determined to make progress on my website. Coffee in hand, I sat down, ready to tackle the customization page. But no matter how hard I tried, nothing flowed the way I pictured it in my head. I kept running into errors—small ones, big ones, and some that just made me question reality. It was one of those situations where the more I tried to fix things, the worse they got.

Then, just as I was finally getting the hang of it after three long hours, my cat—my sweet, chaotic, four-legged assistant—decided it was his turn to contribute. With the grace of a tornado, he launched himself onto my laptop, stepping on all the wrong keys and successfully obliterating my progress. Gone. Vanished. Just like that.

Was I mad? Yes. Did I consider letting him take over the entire business at that point? Also yes. But in hindsight, maybe it was for the best. I wasn’t completely happy with the way things were turning out anyway. If nothing else, I learned a few new tricks that will (hopefully) make tomorrow's redo a bit easier.

Plan B: Candle Making… or Not

After my morning tech disaster, I decided to switch gears and do something I actually know how to do—make candles. I prepped everything, melted the wax, poured it carefully into the molds… and then watched helplessly as it all leaked out the bottom.

Not once.
Not twice.
Four times.

By attempt number five, I had to accept defeat. It turns out my sealant was too old, and my molds just weren’t holding up. Lesson learned. I’ll be grabbing some fresh supplies before trying again tomorrow.

Silver Lining

Even though today felt like an endless loop of mishaps, I still walked away with valuable lessons:
Perfection isn’t always productive. Sometimes, starting over is a blessing in disguise.
Check your materials. Old sealant equals wasted wax (and possibly, tears).
Cats are chaos gremlins. But we love them anyway.

For now, I’m calling it a day and taking a much-needed breather. Tomorrow is a new day—hopefully with fewer technical errors and wax explosions.

💬 Have you ever had a day where everything just seemed to go wrong? How did you handle it? Drop a comment—I’d love to hear your stories!

Until next time, happy (and hopefully, mess-free) candle-making! 🕯️✨
